Craig Bellamy makes exciting promise about his Wales side and gives Kieffer Moore update
Craig Bellamy has promised that the 0-0 draw with Turkey is only the start for his Wales side, and insists there is much, much more to come from his reign.
Bellamy oversaw a performance brimming with positives at the Cardiff City Stadium against a Turkey side that had previously reached the quarter-finals of Euro 2024.
It's an opening gambit that has massively impressed fans and pundits alike, and Bellamy himself was similarly satisfied by what he saw from his team.
"[The players were] outstanding," he said. "We have had a lot of work this week. There have been a lot of meetings and I am always conscious of a lot of information going into the players in a short space of time.
"But they were great this week and that gives you great confidence going into a game like this evening.
"A few of the players wanted more information. You just don't know how it's going to carry out."
This showing will likely leave Wales fans positive about the future, and perhaps boost hopes that this team can make it to the World Cup in 2026, which is clearly the goal at the heart of Bellamy's ambitions right now.
But for all the positives, Bellamy says there's a lot more to come.
"Believe me, this is the worst we are going to be," he said. "The more we learn, the more we spend together, the finer details. I believe there's so much more to come.
"It's such a good start but there's much more to come from this team.
"I am not a master at this after one game, trust me. But I enjoyed it. It was a great country to play against in your first game and I am really happy."
Meanwhile, Bellamy says Kieffer Moore will be assessed ahead of the trip to Montenegro on Monday, after the striker suffered a head injury shortly after coming off the bench.
Moore received lengthy treatment in the latter stages of Friday night's clash after accidentally being caught in the face by the boot of Caglar Soyuncu, and returned to the field sporting a bandage round his head.
"I'll find out now when I go back in," Bellamy said when asked on Moore's condition. "He was having stitches. So I'll find out."
"It's a quick turnaround. There will be changes [for Montenegro]. We'll adapt.
"Turkey's a different game compared to Montenegro from what I've watched of them.
"So we'll change and tweak a little bit as well in how we approach that game.
"Every game you approach differently.
"We'll try and move to what we feel will give us the best opportunity to dominate the ball and hopefully winning."
