An explicit remark from Craig Bellamy had Gary Lineker unable to contain his laughter after Bellamy accused Match of the Day pundit Micah Richards of "talking s*** all the time".

The current Wales manager, who recently commenced his tenure with a stalemate against Turkey, is renowned for his forthright nature and didn't hold back in expressing his opinion about his ex-Manchester City colleague while serving as assistant manager at Burnley last term.

Richards brought up the blunt exchange when discussing Bellamy's new role as Wales boss with Lineker and Alan Shearer during The Rest is Football podcast, revealing that he was surprised by the comments which made him feel utterly "mugged off".

Describing Bellamy's polarising reputation, Richards said: "Bellers is Marmite," and added "You either love him or you hate him. He worked his socks off when he was at Man City. But he would tell you how it is. If you played rubbish he would tell you."

Further recounting the incident, Richards said: "So I've gone to see Vincent Kompany before Burnley's first game of the season [against City] last year, I went to a training session and I went to the game. I'm walking into Turf Moor and I see Bellamy come up and he goes 'F*** me, you're f***ing everywhere talking s*** all the time'.", reports Wales Online.

Richards, taken aback by Bellamy's comment, continued: "I said 'Bellers what do you mean? '. [And he said] you boys on analysis don't know what you're talking about. You've got basic analysis. It's ABC, 123 stuff. If you want proper analysis come to a Burnley training and I will show you how it is done."

"I was thinking to myself whether or not he was being serious or if he was having banter. But he was being deadly serious. I did not know how to take it," he added. "I didn't say nothing, I got in my car and drove home and just thought he's just mugged me right off there and I've basically just taken it."

Both Lineker and Shearer couldn't help but laugh after the tale was related to them, yet Richards has vowed to confront Bellamy about various issues next time they cross paths.

Recounting previous encounters with Bellamy's forthright personality, the pundit recounted incidents from their time at Manchester City on the 'Match of the Day: Top 10' podcast.

"I was with Bellamy at Man City, he was there for a while," Richards narrated. "The first training session with Mark Hughes and Richard Dunne was the captain and he's got the ball and he's given the ball away like you do in a press."

"Bellamy openly criticised Dunne during training, commenting, 'no wonder he's struggling in the league, he can't even pass the ball straight,' despite Dunne serving as team captain."

Richards amusingly recalled the tension, saying, "We're all holding Dunney back from going [at Bellamy]! ," and noted similar clashes between Bellamy and Gareth Barry, as Bellamy was someone who "He had the same with Gareth Barry as well, he just didn't care."
