Bruno Tonioli may be taking a week off from his duties on Strictly Come Dancing, but he was at least there in spirit... through the most unlikely of sources.

On tonight's (October 21) show, Debbie McGee and partner Giovanni Pernice got one of the most rapturous receptions of the night with a romantic rumba.

Dancing to 'Baby Can I Hold You?', it certainly got emotional for Debbie, who recalled her relationship with late husband Paul Daniels.

That was certainly noted by judge Shirley Ballas, who called the dance "very emotional" and recalled her own past.

"I am sure you were dancing that for your husband," she said. "I've lost a loved one so I know what it feels to perform something so beautiful.

"I travelled the world, and I have never seen a standing leg as beautiful as that. Beautifully balanced, I applaud you," she added.

However, the tone changed dramatically thanks to Craig Revel Horwood (and not negatively, either!).

"I feel the need to channel Bruno," he said, before launching into an over-the-top Bruno impression. "Giovanni, I love it! I love it!" Yep, that actually happened.

"I have to agree, but I'm not going to imitate that!" Darcey Bussell then added. "The crest in your feet, and the superb leg line. That is your best dance."

Their emotional dance impressed the judges so much that they each gave Debbie and Giovanni a 9, bringing her score to 27.

Strictly Come Dancing airs on BBC One on Saturday and Sunday nights.
