Crash near popular Glencoe hiking destination closes both sides of busy A-road

A crash near one of Scotland's most popular hiking destinations caused traffic chaos for motorists on Monday.

The A82 at Glencoe was closed in both directions due to a collision. The incident involving a car and a motorbike happened near the Three Sisters Viewpoint and police raced to the scene.

Ambulance crews attended and a man was airlifted to hospital for treatment. His condition is currently unknown. As traffic began to build on both sides, Traffic Scotland urged drivers to "take care".

A Traffic Scotland spokesperson said on X at 2.50pm: "The A82 at Glencoe (Near the Three Sisters Viewpoint) is currently CLOSED in both directions due to a collision. Police are currently on scene, traffic is beginning to build in the area. Please take care on approach."

The road has now reopened. A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 2.05pm on Monday, October 14, 2024, we were called to a road crash involving a car and a motorbike at the Three Sister Viewpoint near Glencoe. Emergency services attended and one man was airlifted to hospital. The road was closed and has now reopened.”

The Scottish Ambulance Service have been approached for comment.
