A man has been charged with the murder of two women days before Christmas in Crawley Down, Sussex.

Daniel Appleton is accused of killing Amy Appleton, 32, and Sandy Seagrave, 76, who were both found dead outside a house on Hazel Way.

Emergency services were called to the property in Crawley Down on the morning of December 22, where they found both victims and the suspect.

Appleton, 37, was rushed to hospital and spent weeks on life support before he was released on Friday.

At the time a number of large forensics tents were erected at the scene - one blue and one black – approximately 100 metres back from the police cordon at a junction of the road.

Sandy Seagrave was described as feisty and brave by her family days later.

“She was one of a kind, an eccentric character who was stubbornly independent, feisty, brave and not afraid of anything,” they said.

“She was devoted to children and especially animals, including a wild fox who we are continuing to feed now that she has gone.”
