Like many counties, Essex has such a vast span of luxurious and eye-wateringly expensive gated mansions, while also being the home of its fair share of properties which fall under the national average price tag. However, one crazily expensive street has estates with acres of land, and homebuyers are unlikely to find a place to call their own for less than £1.2million.

Nestled in Essex countryside, Mope Lane really has potential buyers gasping at the for sale price, with large homes reaching well over six figures. With a huge array of detached three or four bedroom homes, and plenty of green space, house prices can soar to well over £3 million, according to those sold on Rightmove.

So why is the street so desirable? The narrow country road itself is quite secluded, with woodland speckling the street and surrounding area, creating a calm sanctuary for those looking for peace away from busy main roads, creating privacy for its residents.

Mope Lane is also particularly sought after because it sits in between two bustling villages, with access to two different high streets. It is also less than an hour to London on the Great Eastern main line, with connections to other main cities in Essex including Colchester and Braintree.

If the quieter life is more your speed, Mope Lane has easy access into Witham and Wickham Bishops, with a less than ten minute drive away, to really settle in to the joy of village life. At both Witham and Wickford Bishops, you will find plenty to do with cafes and shops galore.

Witham is also known for its incredible history, with royalty even stopping by. According to the history books, an Anglo-Saxon king stopped by on his travels through the area. Later, in 1148, the town was presented as a gift to the Knight’s Templar, who set up base here. Cressing Temple, which is just north of the village, is the earliest known foundation of Templar lands in the UK.

Shenfield in general is also known for its relatively low crime rates, and this quiet residential street benefits from the same safe and secure environment. Living on Mount Avenue offers a blend of luxury, tranquillity, amenities and superb transport links, perfect for both commuters and families.
