All Creatures' Callum Woodhouse's life off-screen from relationships to beloved pet
All Creatures Great and Small is back on Channel 5 and Callum Woodhouse is finally reprising his role as Tristan Farnon. Taking a break from his role in the Royal Army Veterinary Corps, he surprises his brother Siegfried (Samuel West).
Callum has played the character since the show first began in 2020 and he may also be recognised for his roles in The Durrells and Cold Feet.
Away from All Creatures, he has taken on roles in the short films Paper Cut and Big Cat. The 30-year-old was born in Stockton-on-Tees, his father Kevin is managing director of an oil company and his mother Gail is a nurse.
As for his personal life, Callum was in a relationship with actress Callie Cooke, as of 2021. He admitted while knowing very little about his All Creatures character in the beginning, it eventually won him the firm approval of his girlfriend's dad.
He previously said: "When I got this role, I was finally accepted in his eyes. "I was a bit apprehensive, but the nerves really came halfway through the job, when we were on set."
His girlfriend was also impressed to see Callum work alongside Harry Potter star Matthew Lewis, who played Hugh Hulton.
Speaking to Masterpiece he explained: "Well, I’m a big Harry Potter fan, but who’s an even bigger Harry Potter fan is my girlfriend and her family.
"They absolutely love it—my girlfriend’s got a wand that she actually got from Ollivanders at Universal. And I think her sister’s boyfriend is the exact same, they absolutely love it."
It is not known in 2024 whether the couple are still together.
Callum's second love in life is his Cavapoo Ralph, and he admitted he was "fully besotted".
On Instagram, he shared a photo of Ralph meeting Nicholas Ralph, who plays James Herriot in the series.
He captioned the photo: "Ralph meets Ralph", with the pooch even getting a tour of the Skeldale House set.
Callum joked that he wanted his pet dog to make an appearance on the show but Ralph is a Cavapoochon, a cross between Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Bichon Frise and Toy Poodle.
As the breed only first came about in the 2000s, it would be inaccurate for Ralph to make an appearance.
All Creatures Great and Small returns to Channel 5 on Thursday at 9pm
