Crews Work to Free Hundreds of Motorists Trapped Overnight on I-95 in Virginia

Motorists were stranded overnight into January 4 on Interstate 95 after parts of the snow-covered roadway were blocked by “disabled vehicles and downed trees” near Fredericksburg, Virginia, authorities said.

Footage posted on Twitter by @BaxtonRump, who said it was filmed at 6.35am near exit 104, shows emergency crew trucks driving down the shoulder of the road past dozens of trapped cars.

Virginia’s Department of Transportation (VDOT) said on Tuesday evening that all disabled vehicles had been removed from I-95 and that the motorway was back open. Credit: @BaxtonRump via Storyful
