Crime victim attacked after catching thieves red-handed
Police are trawling CCTV after a theft victim was attacked. Two men are said to have been disturbed while trying to load horse equipment into a van in Alton.
The owner of the items 'intervened' - but was assaulted by one of the yobs. Now Staffordshire Police have launched an appeal for information following the incident which unfolded at around 7.40am on November 6.
PCSO Rebecca Gorman has urged neighbours to check CCTV - and specifically see if they have recorded a white Ford Transit van in the village.

She said: "Officers are appealing to the local Alton community for CCTV in relation to an incident that occurred at around 7.40am on November 6 in the area of Back Lane, Alton. Police received a report that two males had been disturbed loading horse equipment into a white Ford Transit van. The owner of the items intervened and unfortunately was assaulted by one of the males. Can local residents please review local CCTV to see if the white Ford Transit van or males are captured."
Witnesses should call the police on 101 and quote 113 of November 6.
