Criminal Minds has signed up another recruit for its forthcoming season 13, and he might look just a little familiar.

The CBS drama has added Special Agent Matt Simmons (Daniel Henney) as a series regular, following his permanent role in spin-off Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders.

According to TV Guide, Henney will join the flagship show as a series regular this autumn.

Borders star Henney also had a recurring role in Criminal Minds last season, crossing over to help the team exonerate Reid (Matthew Gray Gubler) following his arrest for murder in Mexico.

The news comes not long after CBS announced that Damon Gupton would not be returning for the next season.

The actor had been recruited to replace Thomas Gibson, who was memorably fired from the series at the start of season 12 following an altercation with a producer on set.

However, Gupton will not be involved with the show's 13th season.

Instead, joining Henney as series regulars and sticking around for at least one more season are Joe Mantegna, Paget Brewster, AJ Cook, Aisha Tyler, Kirsten Vangsness and Adam Rodriguez.

Criminal Minds returns September 27 on CBS.
