Reportedly, final negotiations have been delayed as ABC Signature makes a deal with longtime showrunner Erica Messer. Once the cast, ABC Signature, Paramount+ and Messer all come on board, the pieces will be in place for the series to go ahead.
So far, Matthew Gray Gubler, who played Spencer Reid for 15 years, has not shown any indication he will be involved in the series revival. And Daniel Henney, who played Matthew Simmons, is currently confirmed to remain on Amazon Prime's Wheel of Time.
There are yet to be any official new cast announcements but since it has been confirmed Criminal Minds "is very much in development", we could expect some more news in the coming weeks.

Brewster has shown great enthusiasm for the revival, tweeting her joy at the news the new series was going ahead. "When being wrong feels so right… I LOVE IT!" she wrote, after rumours flared that it had been cancelled.
Details of what the revival will consist of are not yet clear. Producers are yet to confirm if it will follow a traditional, one-case-per-episode model or trace a longer case over the span of the season.
Criminal Minds airs on CBS in the US and streams via STAR on Disney+ in the UK.
