Cristiano Ronaldo is set to be offered to a direct Man Utd rival, though a second report claims he’s torn between joining a different Premier League club and an overseas side.

Ronaldo’s second stint at Old Trafford has officially come to an end. The Portuguese icon, 37, always looked a poor fit for Erik ten Hag on paper. Less than six months into the Dutchman’s tenure, Ronaldo has made way.

His explosive interview with TalkTV was the catalyst behind his exit. However, per both the club and player, the departure was seemingly mutual and harmonious.

Ronaldo has agreed to forego the remainder of his salary that’ll net United a hefty saving of around £15m. In return, it appears United will drop any attempt to sue him for breach of contract.

The search for a successor to Ronaldo is already underway, with today’s Transfer Gossip detailing the latest on that front. However, of equal interest is where Ronaldo will wind up next.

A return to Sporting Lisbon has been touted, along with a curious switch to mid-table Serie A side, Fiorentina.

Lucrative moves to Australia or America have also been speculated. However, the latest from a series of reports runs the rule over three clubs – Chelsea, Newcastle and Saudi side Al-Nassr.

Chelsea can sign Cristiano Ronaldo

Regarding the English sides, CBS Sports’ Ben Jacobs tweeted Ronaldo’s agent, Jorge Mendes, will offer his client to Chelsea.

The Blues are the lowest scorers of all sides currently in the top half of the table. Christopher Nkunku is expected to aid their woes up front next season, though Ronaldo would represent a short-term fix.

Part-Chelsea owner, Todd Boehly, reportedly sees the appeal of bringing a global icon to Stamford Bridge. However, manager Graham Potter is ‘less convinced’.

A move is therefore branded ‘complicated’, though Chelsea will seemingly get the opportunity to sign Ronaldo nonetheless.

Ex-Man Utd talisman ‘torn between’ two others?

Elsewhere, Spanish outlet Marca report Ronaldo is ‘torn between’ joining two sides – Newcastle and Al-Nassr. The idea of moving to the Middle East is reportedly under serious consideration by Ronaldo.

A Saudi club did bid for Ronaldo over the summer, though that was Al-Hilal, not Al-Nassr.

Newcastle’s newfound wealth would allow them to finance Ronaldo’s colossal salary demands. However, Jacobs weighed in on Newcastle’s chances and they make grim reading for Ronaldo.

The journalist added Newcastle are ‘not considering Ronaldo’, with Eddie Howe looking to lower the average age of his squad, not increase it.

And while Newcastle could afford Ronaldo, Jacobs added they want to retain relative parity between their top earners. Signing Ronaldo would blow their wage structure out of the water.

The Telegraph provide their own update on where Ronaldo may move next, and again, Ronaldo fans should look away.

They claim both Chelsea and Newcastle have ‘distanced themselves’ from the move. Precisely why isn’t stated, though his destructive interview with Piers Morgan may have played a part in their thinking.

Furthermore, MLS side Inter Miami are claimed to be ‘looking elsewhere’. Other MLS clubs have been linked, most notably the two Los Angeles Franchises, LAFC and LA Galaxy.
