Recently dethroned Armagh kingpins Crossmaglen Rangers are on the lookout for a new manager following the departure of Anthony Cunningham.

The former All-Ireland winning Cross captain ended a two-year stint in charge of his native club having won the Armagh SFC title in 2023.

He succeeded Stephen Kernan to the post with the South Armagh side retaining the Gerry Fagan Cup in his first year in charge.

However, as was the case in 2022, Cross failed to make an impact in Ulster, losing out to Tyrone champions Trillick in the first round.

Cross suffered a semi-final loss to Clann Éireann earlier this month in what proved to be Cunningham’s final game in charge.

However, events on the pitch were overshadowed by the untimely passing of Caolan Finnegan earlier this summer.

Cross lost back-to-back county finals to Maghery and Clann Éireann in the 2020 and 2021 before winning back-to-back finals against Granemore and Clan na Gael and they remain a formidable team.

Last weekend, Rian and Oisin O’Neill were part of the Ulster squad as the province defeated Munster and Connacht to clinch the Railway Cup in the inter-provincial series.
