A crowd gathered on Edinburgh’s Royal Mile ahead of the public proclamation of King Charles III on September 11.
The queen’s funeral cortege which left Balmoral Castle on Sunday was also due to arrive in the Scottish capital on the same day. The Queen’s coffin will arrive in London on Tuesday, and the Queen will lie in state at Westminster Hall from Wednesday.
King Charles III was officially proclaimed King of the United Kingdom in a ceremony at St. James’s Palace in London, on Saturday, September 10.
