After two failed attempts, the US are having another crack at an IT Crowd remake. We hope they've tried turning it off and on again.

While this news is enough to strike fear into any heart, there is one comforting upside – the iconic sitcom's creator Graham Linehan will be on board for this latest American reboot.

According to Variety, Linehan will write and executive produce the re-imagining of the useless IT department alongside Partrick Daly, Jon Rolph and Universal Television.

We can only hope this will turn out to be more of an Office US affair than an Inbetweeners one.

Although the announcement comes as a surprise, it probably shouldn't – as Graham has already given the US his blessing to recreate the show. On one condition.

"It's one of the few things I've done that could translate," he admitted back in 2015. "You just have to pull back on the surrealism and concentrate more on the character comedy.

"The Americans do character comedy so beautifully, so I think you have to adapt it to suit that. So I'm going over to say to them, 'Please don't do my show' – or do my show, just a suitable American version."

Whether it'll work or not is yet to be seen, but here's hoping it does better than NBC's failed shot-by-shot attempt back in 2007...
