Crowd Marches Over Brooklyn Bridge on Anniversary of George Floyd's Death

A crowd marched over the Brooklyn Bridge in New York City to commemorate the first anniversary of George Floyd’s death on May 25.

Floyd was killed by former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin in May 2020, setting off a wave of racial justice protests nationwide. Chauvin was convicted of second-degree unintentional murder, third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter and was due to be sentenced in June.

On Tuesday evening, the New York City Police Department reported street closures in Manhattan due to demonstrations.
