Crowds of Spring Breakers Pack Miami Beach

Crowds of spring break travelers gathered in Miami Beach despite official COVID-19 protocol and warnings from city officials.

Michael Mitchell shared footage to TikTok of spring breakers packing Ocean Drive in South Beach on Saturday night, March 13.

Miami Beach Mayor Dan Gelber said officials and police would continue implementing necessary measures to keep the community safe, which had included closing public parking garages and 10 blocks of Collins Avenue on the night of March 16 after residents complained of gridlock, the Miami Herald reported.

A countywide curfew remained in place from 12 am to 6 am and all package liquor sales in Miami Beach were to cease after 10 pm, the city said.

As of March 18, Florida had reported 1,994,117 total cases of coronavirus, with 430,942 in Miami-Dade county alone. Credit: Michael Mitchell via Storyful
