Claire Foy and her husband, The Last Post actor Stephen Campbell Moore, have sadly decided to end their marriage.

The couple released a joint statement on Thursday (February 22) acknowledging that they'd reached a decision privately to go their separate ways (via The Sun).

A joint statement from Claire and Stephen read: "We have separated and have been for some time. We do however continue as great friends with the utmost respect for one another."

The former couple would have celebrated their fourth wedding anniversary this coming December, and are parents to a 2-year-old daughter called Ivy Rose.

Just last month, Stephen Campbell Moore and Claire Foy shared in an interview for the first time that the Child In Time and Our Zoo actor had undergone life-saving surgery for a brain tumour last summer.

"There are certain things that you make sure you've done before you go into surgery," he remembered. "You write a letter. But it's all very much on the off-chance that something did go wrong, because every part of you is saying that nothing will.

"Waking up and being told the operation had gone well was understandably a huge relief."

Campbell Moore has since made a recovery, and most recently had a supporting role in the A. A. Milne biopic Goodbye Christopher Robin opposite Domhnall Gleeson and Margot Robbie.

Foy recently wrapped up her second and final season playing Queen Elizabeth II in Netflix's The Crown, and will be replaced by Olivia Colman as the series moves forward in time.

The 33-year-old actress is next tackling the big screen as she takes over the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo franchise as the new Lisbeth Salander in sequel The Girl in the Spider's Web.
