The second season of The Crown, which returns to Netflix next month, will tackle the Suez Crisis, the Kennedys, and a whole lot of other historical landmarks.

But perhaps more importantly for fans of royal drama, the second season of the Emmy-winning show will delve deeply into troubles in the royal marriage.

This new trailer finds Claire Foy's Queen Elizabeth II struggling to manage her husband Prince Philip (Matt Smith). The season begins with Philip taking off for a months-long royal tour overseas, an absence which puts more tension on their already strained relationship.

Season two of Netflix's royal drama will cover roughly another decade in Elizabeth's reign, ending in the 1960s and bookended by political disasters.

The season begins with new Prime Minister Anthony Eden ordering an illegal war in Egypt, and ends with the downfall of his successor Harold Macmillan following another scandal.

The show's entire cast will be replaced with older actors following this season, with Olivia Colman confirmed to be taking Foy's place as Queen Elizabeth.

The Crown's second season will launch on Friday, December 8 on Netflix.
