The Crown’s Emma Corrin thanks ‘compassionate’ Princess Diana in Golden Globes acceptance speech

The Crown actor Emma Corrin has thanked Princess Diana in her Golden Globe acceptance speech.

Corrin, who played the late princess in the most recent season of the Netflix smash, received the Best Actress in a Drama Series award via video link in London.

She expressed her thanks to the woman who inspired her performance.

“Most of all, thank you so much to Diana,” Corrin said. “You have taught me compassion and empathy beyond any measure that I could ever imagine.

“On behalf of everyone who remembers you so fondly and passionately in our hearts, thank you.”

Corrin also used her speech to thank her co-star Josh O’Connor, who portrayed Prince Charles in TheCrown.

“Thank you to my Prince Charming, Josh,” Corrin added. “I couldn’t have done this without you, thank you for making every single day by my side a complete joy.”

Corrin portrayed Diana in the fourth season of The Crown, which takes place in the 1980s. She will be replaced by Australian actor Elizabeth Debicki for the show’s fifth season, which will leap forward in time.

This year’s Golden Globes were beset by technical gaffes due to its dependence on video links due to the pandemic.

Daniel Kaluuya’s win for Best Supporting Actor was briefly yanked off-air as he appeared to be muted.
