The British actress, 44, has taken over from Claire Foy as an older version of the monarch after the actress picked up a Golden Globe and an Emmy for the portrayal.
After keeping all plot points and character information under wraps, Netflix has now unveiled a sneak peak of Colman as the Queen.
The teaser image of Colman was accompanied by the caption: “Patience.”
Colman, who will play the monarch in the third and fourth seasons of the smash hit show, recently revealed that she had been taking elocution lessons ahead of filming.
“I’m really nervous to take over something that’s been so great — it’s scary,” she told The Sun.
“They’re giving me a great voice coach who will make sure I speak like the Queen. So I’ll just learn the lines and try and copy exactly what they do. Claire Foy has let me know I can call if I need to.”
Helena Bonham Carter will take over from Vanessa Kirby as Princess Margaret while Tobias Menzies will follow in Matt Smith’s footsteps as Prince Philip.
Showrunner Peter Morgan explained his reasons for re-casting, saying: “You can’t ask someone to act middle-aged. Someone has to bring their own fatigue to it.
“The feelings we all have as 50-year-olds are different than the feelings we all have as 30-year-olds."
Despite having already stepped down from the show, Foy has been nominated for another Emmy for the role, while Kirby has earned a supporting nomination for playing Margaret.
