A Croydon man has been banned from entering any Tesco store in Surrey following a shoplifting conviction. Dean White has been issued with a Criminal Behaviour Order at Lewes Magistrate Court on November 13.

Surrey Police said the order was issued following theft offences. It also prevents the 35-year-old from entering the borough of Tandridge.

Sgt Wayne Stephens from the Tandridge Safer Neighbourhood Team said: “A lot of policing focuses on people, but our role is just as much about protecting property. We understand what a huge concern offences like shoplifting can have on our business communities, and measures like CBOs can help prominent offenders from going on to commit further crimes and help us safeguard stores and their staff.

“Dean White has been a thorn in the side of local businesses in Tandridge and the successful application of this CBO by the Safer Neighbourhood Team will hopefully go some way to reassuring our business communities that Surrey Police remain committed to tackling shoplifting in our county.”
