Croydon stabbing: Young man dies after 'brutal and frenzied attack' in south London street

A young man has died after he was stabbed repeatedly in a "brutal and frenzied attack" in a south London street.

Emergency services rushed to the scene in Stroud Green Way, Croydon, at 12.15am on Wednesday.

The victim, aged 24, was found suffering from multiple stab injuries. A number of people are believed to have attacked him.

He was taken to hospital where he died during surgery, police said. He was pronounced dead at 2.46am.

Detective Chief Inspector John Massey, who is leading a murder investigation, said: “This was a brutal and frenzied attack on a young man walking along the street.

"It is imperative that anyone who can name the attackers or has footage of Stroud Green Road around the time of the incident, contacts us as soon as possible.

“My officers are waiting to take your call and all information will be treated in strictest confidence - your call could help us remove violent individuals from your area.”

Police said no arrests have been made.

Officers have informed the victim's family.
