Richard Ayoade fans have been treated to their first look at the comedian in his new role as host of The Crystal Maze.

The legendary game show, which follows teams as they attempt several challenges in a bid to win crystals, has been revived for a new series on Channel 4.

Comedian Ayoade can be seen in a red suit and white boots as he takes centre stage in front of the famous Crystal Dome.

The new series will see teams of five contestants navigate the Aztec, Medieval, Industrial and Future zones of the maze.

They will face a range of skill, mystery, physical and mental challenges to win crystals that equate to time in the final test to win the cash in the Dome.

A host of celebrity specials in aid of Stand Up 2 Cancer will also air later this year.

The iconic game show originally ran in the UK from 1990 to 1995 with one series per year.

Rocky Horror Show creator Richard O’Brien hosted the first four series of the programme before Ed Tudor-Pole took over the reins for the final two.

Rumours of a TV comeback first surfaced last year, with former Doctor Who David Tenant tipped to host.

Stephen Merchant fronted a one off charity special for Stand Up 2 Cancer which saw comedian Josh Widdicombe, radio DJ Sara Cox, actress Michelle Keegan, Paralympian Jonnie Peacock, and sportsman Rio Ferdinand enter the maze.

The Crystal Maze is set to air on Channel 4 in June.
