Crystal Palace atmosphere set to suffer with Holmesdale Fanatics missing after tickets row

Selhurst Park might not be as intimidating as usual for Liverpool on Monday night because the Holmesdale Fanatics, the group of Crystal Palace fans in the corner of the ground who help create a raucous atmosphere, will not be at the match as an organised group.

The HF have become synonymous with the noise and colour at Selhurst Park but they will not be at a Palace home game for the first time in 13 years because of a row with the club.

They have always sat in Block B in the corner of the Lower Holmesdale Stand, where they have gained a reputation as one of the most passionate groups of supporters in the country.

Last season, the HF held discussions with the club about relocating to a block directly behind the goal. Along with the club, they felt the move would create the largest singing section in an English ground, include other fans and would take the atmosphere up another level.

The club say they sought feedback from other supporters, and that people who had sat in seats behind the goal for years did not want to give them up. After being passed this message by the club, the HF decided they would no longer occupy their usual spots in Block B. Those 100 seats have now been resold by the club.

Palace have encouraged fans to continue the good atmosphere in that area of the stadium by singing and bringing flags.

The HF have not disbanded and they are keen to work with the club to find a solution in the future, but they believe the club have handled the situation poorly and have grown frustrated.
