Roy Hodgson has been able to welcome back a trio of players to Crystal Palace training this week as his defensive problems being to ease, but will have to assess Eberechi Eze before Monday's trip to Burnley.

Tyrick Mitchell, Joel Ward and James Tomkins have all returned to train with the Palace squad this week, while defender Martin Kelly also began some work on Thursday morning.

Eze, who starred in the 4-1 win over Leeds United before the international break with an assist and his first Premier League goal, withdrew from international duty with the England Under-21s earlier this week as a precaution after feeling some muscle tightness.

Hodgson is hopeful the problem is nothing too serious, but will keep an eye on the summer signing across the weekend before making the trip north to Turf Moor.

On Eze's start to life in the Premier League, Hodgson said: "He's been very good, right from the start. The adaptation was seamless.

"The moment he stepped onto the field with these players he looked at home and won their respect.

"That's always been a success. In the games he's started or come on, he's shown the talent that he has.

"That was particularly evident against Leeds, he had a top class game."
