Wilfried Zaha has not suffered an injury despite a cryptic post on social media which left Crystal Palace supporters worried about his fitness.

Zaha posted an image on Instagram on Monday of his left leg in a recovery boot with the caption “back to the drawing board”.

Palace fans feared the forward had an injury to add to the problems facing Roy Hodgson, but the type of boot he was wearing is used by the whole Palace squad to help them recover faster after matches. The boots reduce muscle soreness and improve circulation.

Zaha is suspended for Saturday’s home game against Leicester after picking up five yellow cards but concerns of a longer absence have been allayed.

Meanwhile, Connor Wickham has given Hodgson an injury boost after he scored on his return from injury for Palace Under-23s.

Wickham has been dogged by injuries and has played just two minutes of first-team football since he suffered a serious knee injury two years ago.

But a stunning bicycle kick in a behind-closed doors match against Bristol City could tempt Hodgson to bring him back against Leicester with Palace crying out for a centre forward.

With Zaha banned on Saturday and Christian Benteke still injured, Hodgson is facing a shortage of forward options for the game at Selhurst Park.

Alexander Sorloth and Jordan Ayew have struggled this season and, while he is still short of match fitness, Wickham’s return could provide Hodgson with a timely boost.

Scott Dann also played in the Bristol City game yesterday and the defender is pushing for a return against Leicester after a year out with a knee injury. James Tomkins is suspended on Saturday and Dann has told Hodgson that he is “ready to go” in the Premier League.
