Crystal Palace face a crucial transfer window. Ending the Premier League campaign with a run of seven defeats and a draw against Tottenham has only further exposed the squad’s shortcomings.

Securing Nathan Ferguson from West Brom after his collapsed move in January is a good first step, but they must kick on.

After Cenk Tosun arrived on loan in January only for his season to be written off by injury, a striker has become the priority.

Queens Park Rangers youngster Eberechi Eze is a firm favourite in south London, while they have also kept tabs on Celtic’s Odsonne Edouard and Brentford’s Ollie Watkins, though the future of the latter will hang on whether the Bees make it to the Premier League through the play-offs.

Youth will underline everything Palace do across the transfer window. Roy Hodgson has a small, but also old squad, which has been stretched far too thin on more than one occasion over the past season.

Finally, there is, of course, Wilfried Zaha. The saga last summer had an undeniable effect on his form over the campaign, something Hodgson acknowledged following the final game on Sunday. Palace will not want to budge from their £70million valuation and would let him leave if that was met, the big issue for Zaha, however, is finding someone to pay it.
