Patrick Vieira will be looking to the FA Cup as a chance to build more momentum after a bright start to his reign as Crystal Palace manager - and, as promised, the Frenchman has named a strong starting XI.

A deep cup run would compliment a progressive rebuild in the Premier League nicely and lend further credence to the idea that Vieira really is building something at Selhurst Park.

Indeed, ahead of Saturday’s third-round clash away at London rivals Millwall, the Frenchman has promised to play as strong a side as possible, albeit having lost a number of players to the Africa Cup of Nations of late.

Talking up the importance of the FA Cup, a competition he won five times as a player, Vieira said: “‘It is a derby, it is the FA Cup and it will be challenging. We will need our best starting XI to compete and to try to win the game.”

Crystal Palace starting XI (4-3-3): Butland, Ward, Guéhi, Andersen, Mitchell, Hughes, Schlupp, Gallagher, Eze, Olise, Mateta
