CSI is back in Sin City in the first official teaser for its revival series.

Six years after the groundbreaking procedural show took its final bow, William Petersen and many other stars from CSI are back to investigate strange and puzzling new cases in Las Vegas.

A trailer and synopsis for CSI: Vegas confirms that both Petersen's Grissom and Jorja Fox's Sara Sidle will be working with colleagues from the past and new recruits in the Las Vegas PD.

"I am excited to get back to Grissom again," Petersen says in the teaser. "The way we solved crimes 20 years ago is a lot different than the way they solve crimes now."

Fox was quite cheeky in explaining her return, joking: "The bitch is back."

"Being back on set with CSI is more exciting than even I thought it was going to be," she more seriously admits.

The actress revealed that the heart of this revival will see Sara coming back to the team and meeting "this new dynamic, intriguing force of criminalists that are on the frontlines of fighting crime".

CBS's own synopsis for CSI: Vegas promises "a brand-new chapter in Las Vegas, the city where it all began, where Petersen and Fox will join forces with a new team lead by Paula Newsome".

"Facing an existential threat that could bring down the Crime Lab, a brilliant new team of forensic investigators must welcome back old friends and deploy new techniques to preserve and serve justice in Sin City," CBS added.

Other returning cast from the original CSI include Wallace Langham (lab tech David Hodge) and Paul Guilfoyle (LVPD Captain Jim Brass), plus newcomers Matt Lauria, Mel Rodriguez and Mandeep Dhillon.

CSI: Vegas premieres Wednesdays at 10pm this autumn on CBS in the US.
