'Cult favourite' restaurant issues opening date for Birmingham New Street and food will be free
A new 'cult favourite' restaurant is gearing up to open its doors in Birmingham, promising 300 free burritos to Brummies by way of celebration. Boojum will welcome its first customers on New Street at 12pm on Thursday, November 21.
The brand, which first came to prominence in Belfast back in 2007, serves burritos, bowls, nachos, tacos and chips and salsa at its 19 branches. Birmingham is the third in Great Britain with stores in Leeds and Nottingham.
Boojum says it plans to give the first 300 customers a free main meal at its restaurant, which replaces Second Cup Coffee at 64 New Street. Second Cup closed last month after nearly ten years on the thoroughfare.

Boojum head of operations Rob Powell said: "Following our huge Leeds opening earlier this year, we're very excited to announce the launch date of our Birmingham restaurant. Our team has been working hard over the last few months to create our new space and we can’t wait to shake up the food scene in Brum and welcome everyone from Thursday.
"To celebrate we will be handing out free burritos to the first 300 diners through the doors from 12pm, so we'd advise customers to get there early to make sure you don't miss out."
We'll bring you a first look at Boojum when we get inside, so be sure to sign up to our food and drink newsletter so you don't miss that. The interior will be 'striking and dynamic' according to the brand, with brightly-coloured furnishings and a 'lively crew'.
Among its tortilla filling options, Boojum has rice, beans, chicken, pork, beef, chorizo, chilli, sautéed vegetables and vegan three-bean chilli on the menu.
