Cumbernauld woman charged after driving with 'invalid insurance while baby in unsecured car seat'

A woman has been charged following a routine traffic stop in Cumbernauld.

On Wednesday, November 20, officers stopped a vehicle on Oak Road at around 9am and found the female driver, 35, to be the holder of a provisional licence only, making her insurance invalid.

As well, officers found a one-year-old child travelling within the car to not be properly secured within a car seat.

The vehicle was seized and the woman was charged with alleged road traffic offences. A report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "Officers from Cumbernauld are continuing to focus on road traffic offences.

"About 9am on Wednesday 20th November 2024 officers carried out a routine stop of a car on Oak Road Cumbernauld. Within the car was a 35-year-old female and a 1-year-old child.

"The female driver was found to be the holder of a provisional licence only which therefore also made her insurance invalid . Officers found the child not be properly secured within a child car seat.

"The vehicle was seized and the female charged with Road traffic offences. A report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal."
