Customers 'heartbroken' as Merseyside restaurant closes for good
A beloved Merseyside restaurant has closed its doors for good. Fuegos, a Mexican restaurant and tapas bar found on Stanley Street in Southport, has ceased operating.
Owner Ryan Thompson issued a public statement on Facebook on Saturday, September 14 to confirm the sad news. He wrote: "It’s with the heaviest heart I’ve had to close the restaurant's doors for the last time. We’re all devastated and will miss all our customers more than you know. Decades of great memories have been made and friends for life.
"I want to thank everyone for their support over the years and I hope to see everyone out and about soon. Your loyalty will never be forgotten.

All my staff over the years have been amazing and I’m so happy I got to work with you all. Thank you all for letting us feed you all for so long."
Long-term customers expressed their disappointment as they wished Ryan and the team the best for the future. Facebook user Geography Jon said: "I’m so sorry and this has made me so sad. I’ve enjoyed every single meal I’ve had at Fuego’s since I first wandered in 20 years ago.
"Thomas (5 years old now) has said this is worse than if Disneyland closed down. He also asked whether the Prime Minister could do anything about it.
"As a family we are truly gutted but thank you and your staff for everything you have done and the amazing times we have had at Fuego’s."
Sam Hopper said: "Heartbreaking news. I'm glad I had the chance to eat there last week. Sending love to you and your team."

Sarah Dinsdale said: "So sad to hear this as we have always had a great time every time we have been . Southport's loss. Thank you for all the great meals and atmosphere over the years."
