It is always heartwarming when injured animals can be returned to their natural habitat after being cared for by vets. The team at South Essex Wildlife Hospital in Grays was lucky to return three seal pups to a release site after nursing them back to health.

On October 26, the team released three female seals back into nature. One was rescued from the middle of a road by a vet at the wildlife hospital, and the other two came from British Divers Marine Life Rescue.

After being given the utmost care by South Essex Wildlife Hospital, all three are ready to enjoy the rest of their lives in a beautiful natural habitat. They can join an existing seal colony just meters from the release site.

South Essex Wildlife Hospital said on Facebook: "Tom and Anna from our seal team had the privilege of releasing our first common seal pups of 2024 back into one of the most beautiful release sites we've ever seen!

"With an existing seal colony just meters away, these three (our first two pups from British Divers Marine Life Rescue and the youngster Tom rescued from the middle of a road) have got the best possible start, and we wish them the very best. Good luck, girls!"
