The CW's upcoming Batwoman pilot has signed-up Fear the Walking Dead star Dougray Scott as Ruby Rose's character's father.

The actor will play Jacob Kane, a former military colonel with a chip on his shoulder over Batman who now commands Gotham's private security firm The Crows.

While he wants to protects the city better than the Caped Crusader, his position will put him at odds with his daughter, Kate.

Batwoman has also lost a director, with David Nutter stepping down from the post as Marcos Siega comes on board. Nutter is quitting for personal reasons, though will remain on the series as an executive producer.

Rose recently dropped a behind-the-scenes look at the new CW show, posting a video of herself getting her head cast for her costume.

The actress made her debut as Batwoman in the ArrowVerse Elseworlds crossover last year ahead of her own standalone show.

Speaking of her casting, Rose previously said: "I feel like the reason I kept getting so emotional is because growing up watching TV, I never saw somebody that I identified with, let alone a superhero.

"Be the person that you needed when you were younger."

Batwoman will air on The CW. The CW airs the multiple Arrowverse shows in the US, while in the UK they air on Sky One and can also be found on NOW TV.
