Cyclist killed in fatal collision with car near Colchester

An elderly cyclist has died after a collision with a car near to Colchester. Officers are investigating a fatal collision involving a vehicle and a bike on July 5.

Essex Police were called to the scene, in Argents Lane, near West Bergholt, at around 12.20pm on Friday. Sadly, the cyclist, a man aged in his 70s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

His family have been informed and are being supported. A woman, 69, from Colchester, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

The woman has been released under investigation whilst enquiries continue. Anyone with information, or footage which could assist the investigation, should contact Essex Police as soon as possible.
