Cyclist left fighting for his life after car crash on Wickford country road

A man has been reported to be fighting for his life following a multi-vehicle car crash in Wickford this morning (October 1). Brock Hill in Wickford was closed in both directions as a result of the accident, but has since reopened.

Paramedics and police were sent to the scene, with reports of a collision in Wickford at 8am this morning. It has now been revealed that a cyclist and a car had collided.

Air ambulance and two other vehicles were sent to the scene of the multi-vehicle crash. The cyclist was sent to the Royal London Hospital by air ambulance.

A spokesperson from Essex Police said: "We were called by paramedics in the East of England Ambulance Service with reports of a collision in Brock Hill, Runwell, at about 8.10am today, October 1. At the scene, we found a cyclist and a car had collided and the cyclist had sustained life-threatening injuries. He was airlifted to hospital."

A spokesperson from East of England Ambulance service added: "We were called at 8.08am with reports of a collision in Brock Hill, Runwell. We sent East Anglian Air Ambulance, an ambulance and an ambulance officer vehicle. A man is being taken to The Royal London Hospital by air ambulance".
