Cyclist seriously hurt in A38 crash

A cyclist has suffered serious injuries after a crash in Cornwall this afternoon, Wednesday, January 22. Emergency services were called to the scene of the collision involving a motorbike and a bicycle on the eastbound carriageway of the A38 near Liskeard.

The cyclist suffered serious, potentially life-changing injuries, police have said. He was taken to hospital.

National Highways closed a section of the A38 and put local road diversions in place. Drivers were told to expect delays.

National Highways said earlier: "The #A38 eastbound is closed between the # A390 (#Liskeard) and #A374 (#Trerulefoot) due to a serious collision." The road has since reopened and traffic is returning to normal.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police has said: "Police were called to reports of a road traffic collision involving a motorcycle and bicycle on eastbound carriageway of the A38 near Liskeard at around 12pm today, Wednesday 22 January. Emergency services attended the scene.

"A male cyclist sustained serious, potentially life changing injuries and was taken to hospital.

"Local road closures were put in place, but the road was fully reopened at around 2.30pm."
