Cyclist suffers broken bones and teeth in hit-and-run near Billingham

A 53-year-old cyclist suffered broken bones in a suspected hit-and-run on Teesside.

The cyclist sustained numerous injuries when he fell to the ground after an unidentified vehicle collided with the rear of his bike on the A139 over the bridge towards Billingham. The crash happened at around 10pm on Friday, November 8.

A Cleveland Police spokesperson said: "The driver didn’t stop to check the rider’s wellbeing and then drove from the scene. The 53-year-old cyclist received hospital treatment for broken bones in his hand and wrist, and he suffered broken teeth.

"Anyone who was in the area of the A139 over the bridge towards Billingham at around 10pm on Friday November 8, or drivers who may have captured the incident on their dashcam are urged to contact Cleveland Police on the 101 number, quoting ref 214630. Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800-555-111."
