Cyclone Yasa Batters Fiji With Strong Winds and Heavy Rain

A 30-day State of Natural Disaster was declared in Fiji as Tropical Cyclone Yasa hit the country on December 17.

The Fiji Meteorological Service said winds at the center of the powerful storm would average 240 km/h, with gusts of up to 345 km/h

Prime Minister Frank Bainimaram said the country should be prepared for “heavy rain, damaging winds, coastal inundation, and flooding.”
