Sex and the City's Cynthia Nixon is currently campaigning to be elected the next governor of New York state, but she took the time last Friday to announce that her oldest child has come out as transgender.

Nixon made the announcement via her Instagram account on Friday (June 22) which also happened to be the 14th annual Trans Day of Action and expressed her pride for her 21-year-old son, Samuel Joseph Mozes, who goes by the name of Seph.

The actress-turned-politician wrote: "I'm so proud of my son Samuel Joseph Mozes (called Seph) who graduated college this month. I salute him and everyone else marking today's #TransDayofAction. #TDOA."

Nixon's caption accompanied a picture of her with Seph at his graduation earlier this month from the University of Chicago.

Nixon had Seph with her former partner Danny Mozes, and they also have another son together, who's now 15 years old. Nixon has since had a daughter, now 7, with her wife, Christine Marinoni.

Nixon, who played Miranda Hobbes in Sex and the City (easily the show's best character), is running against incumbent New York governor, Andrew Cuomo, in the New York's Democratic primary for governor.
