Michelle Keegan has revealed that she would “love to go back” to Coronation Street.

The English actress rose to fame following her portrayal of Tina McIntyre in the ITV soap.

Keegan, who now plays a soldier in BBC drama Our Girl, has revealed that she wouldn’t shut down the opportunity to return to the show.

The 30-year-old told the Press Association: “I always say that I’d love to go back to Corrie – I was always a massive fan of Coronation Street growing up and I’ll never say never.

“You never know what happens in the future.”

The news comes after Keegan admitted that she won't ever move to LA with husband Mark Wright.

The former Coronation Street actress revealed she is finding her long-distance relationship with her other half “difficult” as he hosts an American show called Extra across the pond.

The pair have spent eight months flying back and forth between LA and London, although she has started looking for work in America so that she can be with her husband.

Speaking about whether she has considered moving permanently to be with former The Only Way is Essex star Wright, she explained: “Of course I’ve thought about it.

“But it’s not that simple. I’m auditioning for work out in LA and if something good comes up I will take it and that will be great. But it has to be something I want to do.

“I’ve held out for really good parts on British television and I love working here. I think we make great drama in this country.”

“I do love LA. It's always so sunny; it's so easy to be healthy and happy there. But I'm a northern girl.”
