Da 5 Bloods: Spike Lee to make Vietnam veteran drama for Netflix starring Chadwick Boseman

Spike Lee‘s next film, Da 5 Bloods, will be distributed by Netflix, with Black Panther's Chadwick Boseman set to star.

The project, which will also feature Delroy Lindo and Jean Reno, will be written by Lee and Kevin Willmott, taking its basis from an original screenplay by Danny Bilson and Paul DeMeo. Lee will also produce with Beatriz Levin, Lloyd Levin and Jon Kilik.

The film will follow a set of Vietnam veterans who return to the jungle to find their lost innocence, according to Variety.

“To quote my brother Jay-Z from Da People’s Republic of Brooklyn ‘On to Da Next One,’” Lee said.

According to sources, production will begin once Oscar season is over, as Lee’s BlacKkKlansman has six Academy Award nominations.

It will mark the first project directed by Lee for Netflix, although he executive produces the TV adaptation of his film She’s Gotta Have It.
