A dad has opened a nursery in Kent, bringing the total of his Monkey Puzzle branches to six. Arlind Marku, who has owned nurseries for nearly 10 years, said the children had already settled in well in the new nursery in Riverhead in Sevenoaks.

The nurseries he owns look after 800 children and he said he was looking forward to welcoming more during the coming months at Monkey Puzzle day nursery on Amherst Hill. The opening in the Victorian building of the former Riverhead Infants School, and more recently Bright Horizons, followed a 14-week refurbishment.

The website shows the nursery takes babies, tweenies, toddlers and pre-school. Deputy manager Alice Riches said: "The launch event allowed us to introduce ourselves to the local community. We were so excited to show the new nursery off to local families. It was such a fantastic day."

There is already a Monkey Puzzle in Tunbridge Wells in St John's Road. Mr Marku said of his latest venture: "We’re really proud of what we’ve done with the space, especially the three separate outdoor areas.

"It’s been wonderful to see how well the children have settled – they’ve brought our vision of the nursery to life. We’re all about creating a warm, family-oriented setting, relationships and supporting one and other are at the heart of what we do."

'Keeping children safe'

"Our parents have loved the setting so far and we can’t wait to welcome more children over the coming months," he added. "We also want to continue to develop our relationship with the local community, building on the feedback we receive from parents and the children.

“Keeping children safe and happy alongside meeting and developing their needs will always be at the forefront of what we promote and value as a team."

The Monkey Puzzle Day Nurseries group has 70 branches across the country.
