A 59-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man was stabbed to death in east London.

Emergency services rushed to a home on a quiet residential road in Dagenham on Saturday night.

Paramedics fought to save the victim, aged in his 40s, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

A woman, in her 50s, was also found injured at the property in Marlborough Road and was taken to hospital.

Photographs from the scene show the road cordoned off by police as officers launched an investigation.

Emergency services were called 10.10pm and the male victim was pronounced dead just before 10.40pm.

The female victim does not have life-threatening injuries, police said.

The man arrested at the scene has been taken into custody and police believe the victim and suspect were known to each other.
