The ongoing dispute between Daisy May Cooper and her book publisher took a hilarious unexpected twist on Wednesday.

Carole Baskin hit back at the This Country star on behalf of Penguin in laugh-out-loud videos.

Originally the writer and actress had hired the Tiger King star to settle a financial dispute with the publisher but it appears she has switched sides.

The Task Master star sensationally claims the publisher has not paid her the final instalment for her memoir Don’t Laugh, It Will Only Encourage Her.

Last week, Ms Cooper shared a video recorded by Baskin through the celebrity video service Cameo where members of the public can pay stars to record personalised messages for them.

In the video, Ms Baskin demanded: “Pay Daisy her money. What is the matter with you guys? Pay her what you owe her, for crying out loud.”

Referencing the show that made her famous, she joked: “Daisy and I are going to come after you and we are going to put you in a cage, just like the animals that you are, for not paying what she is owed.”

She said the pair were “going to be coming after you with nets and leashes and tranquiliser darts, for crying out loud”.

But in another twist in the tale, Ms Baskin hit back at Ms Cooper in a message posted on Cameo on behalf of Penguin on Wednesday.

Wearing her trademark flower crown, she said: “This is a message for Daisy May Cooper from Penguin Books. Daisy, pleeeease can you, or your agent, pick up the phone?

“We cant keep communicating through Carole Baskin.”

The Netflix star added: “This is crazy, it’s gonna be way too expensive, so Daisy, pick up the phone.

“I don’t really work for Penguin Books but you guys need to talk.”

Her book promises to give an insight into her life before fame, including her time in rural Gloucestershire with her brother Charlie which inspired the siblings to create This Country.
