The latest trend in celebrity hair is dying it as soon as a project ends. First Ashley Benson and Troian Bellisario of Pretty Little Liars did it. Last week, Lena Dunham did it. And now, Dakota Johnson has admitted to doing it. However, the difference is Johnson’s transformation never saw the light of day.

At the Los Angeles premiere of Fifty Shades Darker Thursday, Johnson revealed to People magazine that she inadvertently went a few shades lighter once the film wrapped. “I dyed my hair immediately,” she said. “It’s something that I do, it’s very bizarre. Any time something weird happens in my life I will dye my hair. It’s like such a teenage thing to do.” Apparently the “weird” thing this time was the end of a movie shoot. But the outcome wasn’t as intended. “Oh, it was such a disaster it was kind of like an orange situation,” she said of the results. Obviously, she died her tresses back to their dark shade in time for the premiere so that no one saw Johnson-gone-Carrot-Top.

Even though they weren’t any shade of shocking orange, we still couldn’t keep our eyes off her hair at the premiere. Working with her go-to hairstylist, Mark Townsend, Johnson wore a loose braid that oozed innocence—kind of like Anastasia Steele pre Christian Grey. Her woven plait was twisted and textured with messy pieces and face-framing angles. The intricacy of the braid was enhanced with a high-shine finish and rich, newly darkened color.

If she hadn’t said anything, we would never have guessed she suffered a bad dye-job.
