Dale Steyn Ruled Out Of Cape Town Test

Dale Steyn will miss the second Test between South Africa and England in Cape Town with a shoulder injury.

Steyn was hurt on his return to action in the opening match of the series in Durban, a game that ended in a one-sided 241-run victory for Alastair Cook's men.

He bowled only 3.5 overs in the second innings at Kingsmead, twice having to stop in the middle of an over before coming off the field and not returning.

Captain Hashim Amla confirmed on Friday that Steyn would not be available and his place in the side will go to Kagiso Rabada.

South Africa could be forced into further changes to their attack from the first Test, with seamer Kyle Abbott struggling with to overcome a hamstring injury.

He did practice on Friday, but South Africa called Hardus Viljoen into their squad on Thursday as cover and they also have all-rounder Chris Morris to call on.

"Dale will miss the next Test, and Kyle is pending a fitness test to see if he's good to go," Amla said.

"Without Dale, Kagiso Rabada will come in. If Kyle is not fit we have to make a decision between Hardus Viljoen and Chris Morris, those are our two options."

The Proteas are also considering a change behind the stumps, having added wicketkeeper Quinton de Kock to their party after star batsman AB De Villiers took the gloves in Durban.

"The final call will be made by the selectors," Amla added. "If Quinny does come in he will take a load off AB and he has also been in very good form with the bat.

"If he does play, the selectors will have to decide who they will leave out. It will be a tough decision, whether it is Faf (Du Plessis) or JP (Duminy) because these have been integral guys in our team for many years."
