Dale Winton reportedly sold his London home before abruptly moving out just weeks prior to his death.

The 62-year-old had lived in his house for over 17 years, but suddenly packed up and moved out without a word to neighbours, after friends came round to collect him in a white removal van.

According to the Mirror, the former Supermarket Sweep presenter sold his £2.3 million property just weeks ago, on 23 March, moving under 10 miles away to a five-bedroom semi-detached house.

The TV star surprised friends and neighbours when he left his original home.

‘It was just a white van,’ former neighbour Iain said. ‘I am assuming it was just friends of his who were just moving boxes.

‘It was just a couple of lads who moved him out in a medium sized van.’ He also said it was ‘all quite a surprise, it was all quite sudden.’

Speaking about how the pair never even said goodbye, he said he was upset at not having the chance to speak to him: ‘I feel quite regretful that I did not get a chance to say farewell and all the best.’

Close friend and LBC host Stevel Allen, 64, spoke about how the star was feeling emotionally about getting older: ‘He didn’t like the ageing process. He used to say to me, “I’ve had enough,” and I used to say, “Oh, you’ve got loads of things”.’

In a strange way he says it’s something of a blessing that Dale has passed away, because he’s now at peace: ‘I’m actually quite happy for him. I know that sounds quite bizarre and I should explain. I don’t think he’d been in a good place for a long, long time. He would be so thrilled at the coverage.’

Dale, 62, was found at around 4.10pm on Wednesday, 18 April, and pronounced dead at an address in North London, with a police investigation ongoing.

A Scotland Yard spokesperson said: ‘Police were called by the London Ambulance Service at 4.10pm to an address on High Road Whetstone following the death of a man aged in his 60s.

‘The death remains unexplained at this early stage but police are not treating it as suspicious.’
