Cowboys' Amari Cooper yet to begin contract discussions

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Amari Cooper is in line to get a massive pay day, but has not yet held discussions pertaining to his new contract, according to Jane Slater of NFL Network.

The 25-year-old is slated to become an unrestricted free agent in March, but reportedly wants to be part of the Cowboys for the foreseeable future.

Regardless of the Cleveland Browns duo’s input on his free agency situation, Cooper earned his fourth Pro Bowl appearance in five years and is set up to becoming one of the highest-earning receivers in the league.

Cooper’s 1,189 receiving yards ranked eighth in the NFL, while his eight receiving touchdowns tied him for ninth.

While Cooper’s new deal will not likely come close to the record-breaking contract New Orleans Saints’ Michael Thomas was able to land, it’s safe to assume that he will be one of the highest-paid receivers in the NFL come spring.
